Vishkanya

Vishkanya are a race of humanoids with serpentine qualities that not much is known about. They appear similar to humans in many ways except that they have a green tint to their skin, sections of scales that appear in different patterns on individuals, a forked tongue, and white or golden eyes. Rarely more dramatic traits can appear on Vishkanya, making them seem more monstrous as well.
Vishkanya in the Tempest Basin
The Vishkanya who live in this area make their home on the east coast of Lake Oran and are expert sailors and fishers. They have lived here for much longer than the inhabitants of the city build around them, Oranport. Humans came to the area, originally as profit farmers who wished to live near the lake, some time ago and have since built up the small city that now surrounds the Vishkanya's original homes. The humans have found a place for the Vishkanya in their religion and have tried to assimilate them but for the most part, the Vishkanya would rather be left to themselves and only deal with the rest of the city when needed.
Vishkanya Racial Traits
- Ability Score Racial Traits: Vishkanya are graceful and elegant but are often stuck in their ways. They gain +2 Dexterity, +2 Charisma, and –2 Wisdom.
- Type: Vishkanya are humanoids with the vishkanya subtype.
- Size: Vishkanya are Medium creatures and thus have no bonuses or penalties due to their size.
- Base Speed: Vishkanya have a base speed of 30 feet.
- Languages: Vishkanya's native tongue is also referred by the same name as the race, Vishkanya.
- Poison Resistance: A vishkanya has a racial bonus on saving throws against poison equal to its Hit Dice.
- Keen Senses: Vishkanya receive a +2 racial bonus on Perception checks.
- Limber: Vishkanya receive a +2 racial bonus on Escape Artist and Stealth checks.
- Poison Use: Vishkanya are skilled in the use of poison and never accidentally poison themselves when using or applying poison.
- Toxic: A number of times per day equal to their Constitution modifier (minimum 1/day), a Vishkanya can envenom a weapon that they wield with their toxic saliva or blood (using blood requires the Vishkanya to be injured when they use this ability). Applying venom in this way is a swift action.
- Vishkanya Venom: Injury; save Fort DC 10 + 1/2 the Vishkanya’s Hit Dice + the Vishkanya’s Constitution modifier; frequency 1/round for 6 rounds; effect 1d2 Dex; cure 1 save.
- Weapon Familiarity: Vishkanya are always proficient with blowguns, kukri, and shuriken.
- Low-Light Vision: Vishkanya can see twice as far as humans in conditions of dim light.
Vishkanya Alternate Racial Traits
- Subtle Appearance: You have normal (human-like) eyes, and your beauty is more conventional. You gain a +4 bonus on Disguise checks to look fully human. This racial trait replaces low-light vision.
- Natural Weapons: You were born with clawed hands or feet and have relied on them over the traditional weaponry of your people. You gain your choice of claws or talons (medium creatures deal 1d4 with these natural attacks). This racial trait replaces Weapon Familiarity.
